The essence of New Orleans is well and truly captured in Mardi Gras – parades, floats, costumes and parties fill the streets, where locals and tourists unite to spread the good vibes. Over these two days, some of the biggest parades come out to play. Check out this year’s King of Bacchus - in previous years, celebrities such as Will Ferrell and, recently, Captain America star Antony Mackie, have adorned this prestigious title.

Fat Tuesday falls on the day of Shrove Tuesday and marks the last day of indulgence before lent. So in true New Orleans style, locals indulge, hard…and they invite the world to join them. Wake up early for a full day of entertainment with your group, beginning with the Zulu Parade. Watch coconuts fly through the air, just one random item of the ‘throws’ associated with Mardi Gras parades – you’ll also witness teddies, doubloons and the iconic beads being propelled over the heads of the crowds.

Enjoy a morning navigating the Honey Island Swamp on a guided boat tour. Get up close and personal with wildlife, including those pesky Alligators, and learn about the Louisiana Bayou. After all that partying in New Orleans has left you in need of some serious R&R, it’s time to hit the beach! Dive into the swells of the Emerald Coast and shake that carnival hangover off. Destin, the panhandle as commonly known, is a Florida gem with impossible stretches of white sand beaches and playful bottlenose dolphins close to shore. If you’re still brimming with energy, why not check out some water sports, there’s plenty of activities to choose from. Take in the sunset on stand-up paddleboard (included), the best way to enjoy the Gulf of Mexico.
