Making a difference

Trek’s Responsible Travel

We have always taken pride in our level of concern and commitment to the natural surroundings and the local people we encounter on our travels. As a company, we support responsible charities and organisations wherever we can. Also, by training both our leaders and travellers on the philosophy of ‘leave no trace’, constantly reviewing operational processes and working with locals; we endeavour to operate tours that create a positive impact on the lands we visit and a lasting impression for those who travel with us.

We are proud to support Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT); a project of Earth Island Institute. Based in Oakland, California, their work helps to give access to outdoor adventures to disadvantaged young people. Read more about Bay Area Wilderness Training.

Giving Back

American Hiking Society

Giving back is important to all at TrekAmerica and our passengers which is why we do what we can to give back not only to the environment but also to the local communities we come into contact with.

Every Tour Leader is local to the country you are visiting with us. American Leaders on our American Trips, Canadian Leaders on our Canada Trips. This not only gives our passengers an authentic experience but allows us to give back by hiring local guides.

Also, on many of our trips, where possible we use accommodation or restaurants/shops that are family run/locally owned. This allows us to give back to the community while also having the best local experiences possible.

Everyone Can Get Involved

Reducing Plastic

Single Use Plastic has a huge effect on our environment and at TrekAmerica we do what we can to cut down on this and do our part to help the beautiful world around us. Plastic Bottles is one way we do this. A single plastic bottle can take about 400 years to degrade naturally so to help stop this, we have our very own TrekAmerica Re-Usable flasks. Get yours in time for your trip by visiting our store. Help us fight against single use plastics!
