Top 7 things to do on New Year’s Eve 2017 in New Orleans

Bored of the same old faces at the same old local house parties? Sick of ringing in the new year with the regulars at the pub? Why not start 2018 as you mean to go on - with a little adventure in your life? New Orleans promises one of the best nights out the States can offer, and on New Year's Eve, the city turns it up even higher.

So exactly what is there to do in New Orleans on New Years Eve? Here are some of our best suggestions...

1. See the Crescent City Countdown

The French Quarter is THE place to be for New Year’s Eve in New Orleans, and during the countdown to midnight, you’ll see the famous fleur-de-lis drop, followed by an epic fireworks show.

2. Experience Allstate Fan Fest

If you’re a sports fan (or want some inspo for your healthy resolutions…), get yourself to Jax Brewery for a football-themed funday. There’ll be marching bands and mascots, as well as the opportunity to kick a ball into the the iconic Allstate Field Goal Net and check out some serious acrobatics from skilful local cheerleading squads. Oh, and in true New Orleans style - there's a parade at 3.30pm!

3. Catch a free concert

If the Allstate Fan Fest doesn’t sound awesome enough as it, in the evening you’ll be able to see performances from Jason Derulo and Panic! at the Disco in the Jax Brewery parking lot.

4. Push the boat out...

If you’re looking to drop some dollars on a NYE to remember, Steamboat Natchez and Creole Queen offer river cruises with live music, full buffet and open bar.

5. Eat a Reveillon meal

What’s Reveillon? Basically, it’s an 1800s Creole tradition of a big family meal after midnight mass. But for the modern age, it’s been revived, modified and now offered at more conventional mealtimes. Many of the city’s restaurants offer Reveillon dinners with menus inspired by original Creole dishes, and it’s the perfect chance to tuck into a lavish festive dinner.

6. Party on Bourbon Street

Start your 2018 with a real bang – Bourbon Street is unlike anywhere else you’ll visit. Dance and party until the small hours in this hedonistic paradise, starting the year as you mean to go on. If you want to see the party from a different perspective, get yourself up onto a bar’s balcony. Just make sure you’re ready to throw those beads!

7. Jazz it up on Frenchmen Street

For a slightly more authentic, laid-back NOLA experience, Frenchmen Street’s jazz clubs offer the chance to party amongst the locals in one of the many buzzing bars. Live music and good vibes are what this place is all about!
