This is the desert after all, so all campsites come with a shaded picnic area for some protection from the desert sun, perfect for chilling out under, after you have explored some of the trails in the area.

1. End of the Road Campground, Alaska

This is by far our favourite of campsites, as the name implies the campsite sits at the end of the McCarthy Road on the edge of the Kennicott River, with spectacular views of the Root Glacier. You really will be stepping foot into the heart of the wilderness, but don't panic there will still be hot showers available and there is even a bear proof storage container so those pesky bears don't steal your food.
