BLT Accommodation

We use a combination of hostels, hotels and cabins on our Westerner3 BLT. Most cabins are multi-share rooms sleeping 4 to 6 people with shared facilities and hostel nights are generally arranged on a single sex, multi-share basis, subject to availability. Where possible we will keep the group together and try to accommodate couples; however twin rooms cannot be guaranteed. A sleeping bag is not required on the trip.

Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops and highlights. However, as local conditions and passenger requests vary, no two trips will ever be the same. With the guidance of your Trek Leader you may modify certain night stops and highlights to give a truly unique experience!

Day 1-2: San Francisco and Yosemite National Park area

Departing over the Golden Gate Bridge you head for Yosemite National Park. Hike, bike or stroll through the awesome vistas of Yosemite Valley. Surrounded by towering granite and the highest waterfalls in North America, this is one picture perfect postcard shot.

Day 3: Nevada

Traverse the Great Basin along thr Extraterrestial Highway to Rachel, Nevada - gateway to the infamous Area 51. Meet the loacals at the A'Le'Inn... they're out of this world!

Day 4-5: Zion National Park

One of our favourite national parks; Zion's sandstone cliffs and hanging gardens serve as a backdrop to Angels Landing and the 'Narrows' of the Virgin River Gorge.

Day 6: Bryce Canyon National Park

Home to countless spires, pinnacles and red-rock 'hoodoos', the fantastical landscape is sure to blow you away. Hike the Queen's Garden Trail or Navajo Loop Trail, to get up-close to these geological oddities.

Day 7-9: Moab/Arches National Park

Known as the adventure capital of the Desert Southwest, Moab is home to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, with loads of activities to get that adrenalin pumping.

Ancestral home of the Navajo people, Monument Valley holds a sacred place in the lives and lore of this Native American tribe, with views made famous in countless Western films.

Day 11: Lake Powell

Swim the deep blue waters of this man made lake, or soak up the sun in this surreal desert oasis.

Day 12-13: Grand Canyon National Park

Nothing can compare to your first jaw-dropping encounter with one of the most spectacular views on Earth. Hit the trail or take to the air for an amazing eagle-eye perspective.

Day 14-15: Las Vegas

Take your chances at the tables, in the clubs or at one of the ridiculously wonderful all-you-can-eat buffets. Go for broke; this is Vegas baby and everyone's a winner!

Day 16-17: San Diego

Back to the beach for some hard-earned rest and relaxation. Head to the Mission Boardwalk for some fun in the sun, or there's always SeaWorld and the Zoo if you haven't had enough.

Wrap things up with a cruise up the coast to the City of Angels and the end of the road.

This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
