Day: 9 Monument Valley
You'll be left wide eyed as we head to the Navajo Tribal Lands of Monument Valley. The only things to pre-date the origins of Native American culture are the towering buttes and mesas which dominate the awe-inspiring landscape. Sacred to the Navajo people and beloved by movie directors, you'll be smitten too, especially with an optional Navajo Indian guided jeep tour into the Valley.
Accommodation: Camping included
-
Day: 10-11 Grand Canyon National Park
Next stop is Grand Canyon National Park, with a full day to experience the grandeur of Earth's natural wonder. Hiking this jaw-dropping terrain of striped limestone and sandstone, you might spot red-tailed hawk or majestic golden eagles. Whether you are up with the sun to start your long hike down Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point, take a leisurely walk around the rim or choose the "bird's eye" view on a scenic flight, you are sure to be left with feelings of awe and amazement.

The Sierra Nevada mountains beckon with the towering peaks of Yosemite National Park. We have two days to hike, bike, or float through this extraordinary landscape of glacier-carved granite monoliths, spectacular waterfalls and groves of giant Sequoia trees - the largest living things on earth! If you want a real challenge, try the 17 mile round trip hike to the top of Half Dome!

Day: 19-20 San Francisco
Next, "Everybody's Favourite City", San Francisco. This town will blow you away. Sunlight on the bay, wispy fog around Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars climbing steep streets: it's a 24-carat stunner. Keep that camera handy for the perfect photo, as you hike along the Oregon coast or cruise the massive dunes on a sand buggy. Through Portland, head to the Cascades for an up-close look at one of nature's volcanic wonders - Mt. St. Helens National Monument. The awesome explosion of 1980 forever altered its alpine splendour, but the partially destroyed mountain is now even more impressive. View the film that captured the actual eruption, and view Spirit Lake nestled below the still smouldering crater.
