  • TrekAmerica unveils new BLTs - Budget Lodging Tours - for 2010

North America specialist TrekAmerica has introduced two new Budget Lodging Tours (BLTs) for 2010, offering an alternative to its camping-based adventure tours.

Travellers on BLTs stay in good value accommodation, ranging from city hostels to wilderness cabins and budget motels. This not only presents travellers with greater choice, but also extends the seasonality on the selected trips by offering a warm bed under a solid roof in the months when camping is less appealing.

The new tours for 2010 are the 7-day Western BLT and the 14-day Westerner 2 BLT. These follow the routes of two of TrekAmerica's most popular camping tours, providing all the adventure with some added comfort.

The addition of these new tours means that TrekAmerica will offer a total of six BLTs for 2010. Other BLT trips include our Canadian lodging tour, the Canadian BLT in northwest Canada; Northeastern BLT in New England, upstate New York and eastern Canada ; and Cross Country BLT, a coast-to-coast route from Los Angeles to New York via the canyons of the southwest canyons and the Deep South.

The new tours for 2010 are:
  • Western BLT

This fully accommodated adventure gives a glimpse of the best of the American West, including hiking in Yosemite National Park and at one of Nature's wonders, the Grand Canyon. To top it off, the group will spend a night enjoying the bright lights of Las Vegas and end the trip at San Francisco for a city tour including the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

Western BLT has its first departure from 30th May - 5th June 2010, costing £649 per person. Further departure dates are available until September 2010. This price excludes flights but includes walks, hikes and tours as per the itinerary, National Park entrance fees, transportation, the services of a TrekAmerica tour leader and six nights accommodation.

See here for full trip details on our Los Angeles to San Francisco tour.
  • Westerner 2 BLT

This 14-day trip takes a circular route from Los Angeles, travelling south to San Diego before heading east to Lake Havasu, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and Yosemite National Park. Heading west again, travellers will hit the coast at San Francisco and head back down the famous Pacific Coast Highway, stopping off at Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara. Some of the adventures travellers can enjoy en route include walking amongst the giant sequoias of Northern California; taking a surf lesson in San Diego; hiking the rim of the Grand Canyon at sunset or sunrise; climbing California's biggest sand dunes; and cruising the Las Vegas strip in a limousine.

Westerner 2 BLT has its first departure from 14th - 27th April 2010, costing £1,079 per person. After April, departure dates are available year-round, with prices starting from £999 per person. Prices exclude flights but include walks, hikes and tours as per the itinerary, National Park entrance fees, transportation, the services of a TrekAmerica tour leader and 13 nights accommodation.
