  • Explore the USA on a Road Trip

The US is a vast country with much to see and even more to do and it can be hard deciding where to go - that's why a great way to see the States is on a Trek America road trip.

Not only can you pretend to be Thelma, Louise or a character from any other US movie about journeying across the country, but you can also have a great time cruising the open road with new friends. From bustling cities, movie sets, theme parks, small country towns, to open plains, forests, mountains, canyons and waterfalls, the US has a plethora of attractions to keep visitors occupied.

There are many different routes you can take, whether you want to do an epic coast to coast road trip from New York to San Francisco, explore the south-west, take in the east coast's spectacular scenery, travel across America through the National Parks in the west or visit Hollywood and the comfortable Californian climate on the coast.
  • From east to west

One of our most popular tours, the Americana Road Trip takes you across the country from New York on the east coast to San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge on the west. This trip will let you see breathtaking scenery alongside some of the most famous places in the US. From the starting point in New York most people's first stop is Niagara Falls, where you can marvel at what is one of the US's most valued heritage spots. Taking a Maid of the Mist cruise at this majestic waterfall is an excellent way to experience the raging water's power and hear more about the legends and myths associated with it.

Other highlights of a US coast to coast trip include the casino hotspot Las Vegas, where you can try your hand at blackjack and live the high life for a few days, take in a show or ride in a limousine. The Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame is also worth a visit as is the UFO Museum in Roswell, the Route 66 museum and the Texas Cadillac Ranch. From our vehicle you can experience the Grand Canyon at sunset or sunrise and explore the countryside and varying landscapes that the US offers.

The trip passes through Kentucky where you can hop on the bourbon trail before moving on to do some sightseeing in the popular destinations of Nashville, Santa Fe and Memphis. You can find the road to Amarillo and also experience the beauty of Lake Tahoe, which is great for skiing and also a great summer destination, before finishing off in the popular city of San Francisco.
  • Outdoor pursuits

Travelling through the US on a road trip is a great experience and in addition to seeing the sights, it also makes it possible to do some adrenaline-based activities. If you're after an adventure holiday then the US is a great place to come to. In the south-west there are some spectacular national parks with great hiking trails, such as Zion, Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon. Yellowstone National Park is also worth a visit, the Yosemite Valley is a beautiful spot for hiking, camping and cycling and the Colorado River is breathtaking.

California is known for its fabulous weather and rich fertile ground, making it a great spot to visit and if you are travelling up the coast from Las Vegas you may also want to stop in at Hollywood, do some celebrity spotting and the odd bit of shopping. So whether you want to organise your own road trip or head out on an organised tour across America, travelling by road is a great way to see the country.
