Tour Overview

An East Coast delight...from the bustling excitement of the big cities to the fun and sun of Florida's beaches and everything in between. Visit historical Philadelphia and Washington DC, walk a section of the lush Appalachian Mountains, become a big kid in DisneyWorld Florida (with an included ticket, of course) and hit the white water rapids of the Ocoee River for some high-adrenaline fun. Then take it down a gear with some to live music in The Deep South and sunbathing on Florida's sparkling white sands. It's no coincidence that this is one of our most popular trips!

Tour Itinerary

As this tour departs at 0730 we recommend that you book pre-tour accommodation. Please request hotel details at the time of booking.

  • Day 1-2: New York Area, Philadelphia & Washington DC

Heading out of the New York area, the first stop is Philadelphia to check out the Liberty Bell, Independence Halls and the famous steps which Rocky climbed, so grab your camera and recreate a piece of movie history! If all that running has got you hungry, you can hit the Reading Terminal Market to bargain for local treats or grab yourself a Philly Cheese Steak - one of the many famous local specialities and not to be missed! Washington DC is next on the agenda and we recommend heading into the centre as the sun sets for an illuminated view of the monuments. It makes for a spectacular first evening and a perfect introduction to the grandeur of the nation's capital. Explore the best of this historic city the next day - the monuments, the parks, and the history; there's so much to see and so little time! Why not hire a bike to cover more ground and then take advantage of the great nightlife in Georgetown by night.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 3: Appalachian Mountains

From the Shenandoah to the lush, natural beauty of the Appalachians - this super-sized, 1500 mile mountain chain is also home to the American black bear and former haunt of the Cherokee Indians! Although today is primarily a long drive day, you are rewarded by views of the Appalachian Mountains and dense greenery that this area is so well-known for. There is time for a short walk in the Appalachians to show you the reason why thousands flock here every year.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 4: Tennessee

Welcome to the Deep South. Time for some excitement! Are you ready to take on the waters of the World Class Olympic white water course? Choose to don a lifejacket, grip a paddle and bounce along a churning stretch of white water for pure adrenalin on the actual course used during the Centennial Olympic Games in 1996. Then head through Mississippi and tune in to local radio stations for a foot-tapping southern soundtrack of rhythm and blues!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 5: Nashville

You're in `Music City', so tune in to local radio to experience some the best rock, blues and most of all country music in the world. Hot foot it down to one of the live music events which come alive nightly. From Honky Tonk bars to The Grand Ole Opry, they don't call it the `centre of the music world' for nothing!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 6: Memphis

Located near the Mississippi River, Memphis has a long and colourful past. Why not visit Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley and influence on country, blues and rock & roll music as well as the second-most visited private home in the USA after the White House! We also have the chance to visit Sun Studio which opened in 1950 and a place where many great names have passed through. Outside of music, you may also like to pay a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum located in the former Lorraine Hotel, where Martin Luther King was assassinated. Legendary forefathers such as Louis Armstrong, Muddy Waters and B.B. King helped to put the famous Beale Street on the musical map. This evening we can enjoy street music as well as checking out some blues music in the blues bars.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 7-8: New Orleans

Now we're talking all that jazz! Hear the real deal at Preservation Hall, do the Huckleberry Finn thing as you chug along the Mississippi River or spot gators on the included Louisiana swamp tour. New Orleans simmers with Deep South charm so grab a Po-Boy, a bowl of Gumbo or some home cooked Jambalaya and pull up a chair in the French Quarter to watch the world go by. By night, explore the bars in Frenchman Street for live music and dancing without the crowds.
    Accommodation: Hotel included

  • Day 9-10: Panama City Beach

Then on to the Gulf of Mexico's 'Southern Riviera' - Panama City. Dream of lazy beach days and sunset cruises. Pack dancing shoes with your flip-flops as the party spirit simmers into the small hours at the famous beach front clubs of the Gulf Coast. Tomorrow may be the perfect day to recover on the beach and soak up the sun.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 11: Florida Coast & Natural Springs

We head further along the Florida Coast keeping our eyes peeled for that perfect beach stop. Another day in paradise to work on your tan in the Sunshine State, or try snorkelling or tubing in of Florida's many crystal clear natural springs.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 12-13: Orlando

Forget your age, especially in Orlando which makes a big kid of one and all. Especially with your entrance to Disney World included so let yourself go and really get into the swing of things. With two nights here, fitting in extra thrills and spills is a piece of cake. But if meeting Mickey isn't your thing, slip-slide around Wet `n Wild, battle Voldemort at Universal Studios' Harry Potter World or cross the final frontier at Kennedy Space Center. Who wants to grow up anyhow?
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 14: Miami

Seek out SoBe (aka South Beach) and stroll the art deco seafront, or if you're staying on for another night pose with the beautiful people in ultra-cool nightspots as you celebrate a fantastic trip. Be sure to spend a few extra days in this sun-soaked city to mingle with the locals and salsa the night away!

This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
